Chick Policy
Country Junction Farm & Feed Chick Policy
At Country Junction Farm & Feed, we prioritize the health and well-being of our chicks. To ensure transparency and mutual understanding, please review the following policies regarding your chick purchases for 2025:
Care and Responsibility
Once chicks leave our care, their well-being becomes the purchaser's responsibility. We ensure they are healthy and well-cared for at the time of purchase but cannot guarantee their condition once they leave the store.
Sexing Accuracy
Hatcheries sex pullet-run chicks with approximately 90% accuracy, but this is not guaranteed. Customers purchasing pullets should be aware that errors may occasionally occur.
Rooster Policy
Otis Orchards Location Only: We offer a rooster re-homing service for $8 per bird. This service is available weather permitting, typically resuming in March, depending on conditions. Please note, this service is no longer available at our Rathdrum store. Customers are encouraged to plan accordingly.
Bird Quality
While we strive to provide healthy chicks, we do not guarantee show-quality birds. Our focus is on supplying chicks for backyard flocks and personal enjoyment.
Vaccination
All chicks (excluding meat birds, turkeys, and waterfowl) are vaccinated against Marek’s Disease, giving them a healthy start.
Health and Liability
Once chicks leave the store, we cannot control their care or environment and assume no liability for their health or the health of other poultry or people they come into contact with.
In-Store Care
Chicks are monitored for 24 hours post-arrival to ensure they are healthy. If you choose to pick up chicks during this monitoring period, Country Junction Farm & Feed cannot be held responsible for their health after departure.
Pre-Orders and Pickups
2025 Pre-Orders Coming Soon! Our pre-order system for chicks will open as soon as hatchery details are finalized. Customers can reserve their chicks and pay upfront for spring pick-up.
Pickup Policy: Birds must be picked up within 3 days of arrival. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of payment. Exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis, but prompt pickup is encouraged to ensure the chicks' well-being.
Order Changes and Refunds
- Cancellations: Orders cancelled within 10 days of the arrival date are non-refundable.
- Shortages: In the rare event of an order shortage, payments will either be refunded or applied toward replacements based on your preference.
